Public Health Policy and Strategy Center

The purpose of Health Resources in Action's Public Health Policy and Strategy Center is to proactively identify and promote public health policies and environmental strategies that will effect sustainable health improvements at the community level. The Center provides consulting and research support for organizational and community leaders, governmental officials, philanthropy, and regulators about planning, implementing and advocating for prevention-oriented best practices, policies and environmental strategies that serve to promote population health in Massachusetts as well as the entire New England Region by:
  • Identifying public health challenges that can benefit from a greater policy, systems change, or advocacy focus
  • Promoting evidence-based practices that support prevention and community health
  • Serving as a neutral convener to move health issues forward
  • Training and supporting governmental officials to become more effective public health leaders
  • Mobilizing community leaders to develop policy solutions to public and environmental health problems
  • Training and organizing community partners to be more effective public health advocates
  • Providing public health leadership or technical capacity when governmental agencies' or non-governmental organizations' own internal resources may benefit by outside support
  • Raising awareness and building support for health policies and best practices that support sustainable health improvements by publishing Issue Briefs
